How does the growing population affect the hydrologic cycle?
Public Comments
- The biggest method of alteration to the hydrologic cycle is through land-use change. When forested or grass-land areas are converted into urban area's a very large portion of the land is covered with impervious material. This reduces the amount of infiltration, increases the amount of run-off, and often creates a heat island affect that can alter rates of evapo-transpiration.
