Hydrologic Knowledge Base
Is the earth's hydrologic cycle open or closed? I learned in school that all water that exists on earth is constant, yet isn't it possible that water could leave the atmosphere in the form of water vapor? Are there other processes which could make terra more like mars?Could global warming result in a drier, rather than wetter, planet?
The hydrologic (water) cycle describes which of the following? a. describes the circulation of water in streams, lakes and wetlands. b. describes a primary mechanism of the movement of energy as well as the movement of water from one part of the globe to another. c. describes a primary mechanism of the movement of energy from one part of the globe to another. d. describes the movement of water from the atmosphere to the hydrosphere.
Hydrologic Cycle? If the Earth warmed, causing evaporation from the oceans to greatly increase, how would the hydrologic cycle of today be altered?
Questions about the Hydrologic cycle? Why is the hydrologic cycle referred to as the "Earth's purification system"? How can the hydrolofic cycle provide electrical needs? Thanks for the website, but it doesnt really answer my question(s). I read through, and i didnt see how it fit with what i asked though. thanks for the effort :)
Describe the hydrologic cycle.? Why is the hydrologic cycle important in maintaining a supply of freshwater? Why is the hydrologic cycle is called a cycle?
When did the God make the hydrologic cycle? We all know that the water cycle did not exist for a while, because there was no rain. Then the flood came. Is this when the hyrdologic cycle got started? If so, what happened when all that floodwater evaporated? Didn't it have to come back down, and therefore cause another flood? Noah couldn't exactly hit ctrl + alt + del to end this process, now could he?
Does anybody know anything about the EPA Hydrologic Evaluation of Landfill Performance Model (HELP)? I have to use the HELP model developed by the Army Corp. of Engineers as a piggy back on a Visual MODFLOW contaminant transport model. I am aware that Waterloo makes a Visual HELP but unfortunately it is not in the budget. I was wondering if the DOS based version had a learning curve which I could overcome within a couple of weeks or if I should find some other way of estimating leachate generation. I have not downloaded the software or the demo yet but if anybody has any information, that would be great. I am kind of on my own with this one so any help would be very appreciated. Thanks.
